Victorian Cottage Residences (originally titled Cottage Residences) was written by famed architect, interior designer, garden designer, and early Victorian trend-setter Andrew Jackson Downing, with some help from Calvert Vaux and Frederick Withers (and with the probably assistance of Alexander Jackson Davis). It features 28 house designs, in styles of Gothic, Italian, Bracketed, Rhine, and more. Downing included plans for laying out gardens, grounds, and orchards, with information on varieties of plants to be used. The book is a good resource for those interested in both historic garden plans and house plans.
